Through The Microscope

Join the Roving Microscope and LEAP Micro AD for this unique opportunity to look inside Calthorpe’s anaerobic digester. A giant mechanical stomach, the digester produces a rich liquid fertiliser and biogas, recycling food waste from nearby households and cafes. During this workshop we will look through the microscope at the different biological lifeworlds that make this possible, comparing aerobic and anaerobic conditions in soil, compost and food. In the afternoon, we will run a practical fermentation workshop, harnessing specific bacteria to help transform and preserve what we find in the garden. Bring food to share for a Microscopic Lunch at 1pm! There are some subsidised free places available for those on low / no income. To register for a free place or to tell us about any specific access needs you'd like us to accommodate, email hari@nomad.org.uk
