DJ Simpson is a painter and sculptor whose practice explores the connection between geometric built environment and organic layering of patterns and shapes.
Inspired by the relationships between human and non-human culture in the urban landscape, Simpson will develop a series of large abstract sculptures with a dual purpose of accommodating a population of Pipistrelle bats in the Phytology site.
Simpson will also lead a monthly artists tour, with each event exploring the agency of contemporary art within a modern landscape. The commissioned work will remain within the Phytology site as a permanent installation.
